Mill Race
The Comstock Cheney Ivory & Piano Key factories imported ivory from west Africa and processed the material in bleaching houses at their facility in Ivoryton, CT. Today remnants of building foundations and previous activities can be found scattered throughout the Essex Land Trust site. Management plans for vegetation and low-impact design solutions were created to improve habitat quality, visitor experience, and reveal layers of the landscape's past significance.
